Mentoring Deep Dive: Strengthening Sisterhood Across Generations

Directly following the NER Meet the Candidate Forum on January 15, Soror Dr. Jasmine Robinson, alongside the Regional Membership Chairs, transitioned seamlessly into an intentional leadership moment by leading a national mentoring conversation titled “Mentoring Deep Dive.” Hosted in recognition of National Mentoring Month, the session created space for meaningful dialogue centered on growth, guidance, and connection across the Sigma body.

Regional Leadership, National Reach

The session was facilitated collaboratively by Dr. Robinson and the Regional Membership Chairs, reflecting One Sigma approach to membership development and mentorship across regions. The conversation was further enriched by the presence of national leadership, including the International Membership Vice Chair, Madam 1st Grand Basileus Moore, and Grand Past International Grand Basileus Debra Catching-Smith.

With over 400 sorors in attendance, “Mentoring Deep Dive” demonstrated the power of collective leadership and the shared commitment to strengthening mentorship at every level of the organization.

A Thoughtful Look at Mentorship

Led by Dr. Robinson and her regional counterparts, the discussion explored the importance of intergenerational mentoring, highlighting how mentorship evolves while remaining rooted in sisterhood. Attendees engaged in conversations around common mentoring pitfalls, successful mentorship practices, and real-life stories that illustrated the impact of intentional guidance.

The session emphasized that mentorship is a shared responsibility one that supports undergraduate and graduate sorors alike and builds stronger, more connected chapters.

Leadership in Action

By moving directly from the candidate forum into a collaborative mentoring experience, Dr. Robinson exemplified leadership that is responsive, inclusive, and action-oriented. Partnering with the Regional Membership Chairs, she helped create a space where voices were heard, wisdom was shared, and the future of Sigma Gamma Rho mentorship was intentionally advanced.

“Mentoring Deep Dive” served as a powerful reminder that when regional leaders work together, the result is a stronger, more supported sisterhood rooted in legacy and rising through mentorship.
