Dr. Jasmine Robinson’s Impact Through the Mock TORCH Facilitation Series
Membership intake is one of the most critical responsibilities within Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. It requires clarity, consistency, preparation, and above all support. Recognizing this, the Northeastern Region launched the Mock TORCH Facilitation Series, a comprehensive training experience designed to better prepare advisors and chapter leadership for every stage of the TORCH process.
As Co-Chair of the series alongside Undergraduate Chapter Coordinator Dr. Smith, Dr. Jasmine Robinson played a key role in shaping a program that met advisors where they are and equipped them for where they are leading.

From Informal Rush to Induction (With Intention)
The Mock TORCH series walks AB's through the full lifecycle of membership intake, including:
Informal and Formal Rush
Workshops and the “In Between”
Ceremony, Tea, and Module 1
Modules 2–4
Final Presentations and Induction
New Member Presentations and Post-TORCH Training
Rather than focusing solely on compliance, the series emphasized readiness, helping advisors and both undergraduate and graduate membership chair's to understand not just what must be done, but how to do it effectively, ethically, and confidently.
Through mock facilitation, real-time discussion, and practical tools, attendees gained strategies they could immediately apply within their chapters.
Strengthening Graduate & Undergraduate Leadership
One of the most meaningful outcomes of the Mock TORCH series was how it strengthened leadership across both graduate and undergraduate levels. Graduate advisors were better prepared to guide, mentor, and manage the intake process, while undergraduate leaders gained clearer expectations and a stronger support system.
By providing shared language, resources, and structure, the series reduced uncertainty and increased confidence allowing advisors to lead with clarity rather than pressure.
Resources That Support, Not Overwhelm
Participants also received tangible tools to support their work, including:
The TORCH Manual
A TORCH Readiness Assessment for chapter use
Workshop cheat sheets
Blank terms and conditions templates
These resources ensured advisors were not navigating the process alone, but were equipped with materials that promote consistency, preparedness, and accountability.
Supporting New Members Beyond Intake
When paired with the NER Onboarding Series, the Mock TORCH Facilitation Series created a full-circle support system. Advisors were trained to lead effectively, and new members were welcomed into chapters with clearer expectations, stronger programming, and more intentional guidance.
This alignment ensured that new members were not only inducted properly but supported meaningfully after induction.
Why This Leadership Matters
Dr. Jasmine Robinson’s co-leadership in this initiative reflects a broader vision for the region: proactive training, advisor empowerment, and sustainable membership development. By investing in advisors and chapter leaders early, she is helping ensure that new members experience Sigma Gamma Rho with care, clarity, and purpose.
This is the kind of leadership that strengthens chapters, supports advisors, and protects the integrity of the organization before the torch is ever lit.
